Rick Tubbs Solano’s Best Congress Choice
For the first time in decades Solano County has
the opportunity to elect a local resident to represent
us in Congress. Redistricting has created a new
Congressional District with Solano County communities
being its major population base.
Fortunately there is an experienced, principled,
and intelligent local candidate in the race – Rick
Tubbs of Vacaville.
Rick has served 22 years in the US Air Force
officer – and is now serving as a Lt Colonel and
commander of an Air Force Reserve Squadron of C-
17s at Travis AFB. He has flown in two theaters of
war.
In that position he has managed and balanced
multi-million dollar military budgets. With that experience
he knows how to fight waste in the military
and in government in general. One simple idea he
supports is to have a two year military budget – getting
rid of the incentive to spend unused funds at the
end of each year just to keep the next year’s budget
from being cut.
He has owned a small business and dealt with
the tangle of government regulations that are hindering
economic growth.
Tubbs’ real world experience as a leader and
manager is exactly what is needed to knock some
reality into the heads of politicians in Washington,
DC. He is a grassroots candidate – and garnered
wide support from grassroots organizations and
every-day citizens. That is in contrast to his competition
– an ultra-left wing career politician (John
Garamendi) and Republican alternative being
pushed by big money power brokers.
His Number One priority is to balance the federal
budget. “No excuses, no complaints that it can’t
be done – just do it,” Tubbs says, “Instead of politicians
kicking the can down the road because they
are too afraid to make a decision, we need leaders
that can work with people from all sides of the
aisle.”
“Our nation's debt - our debt is currently almost
$16 TRILLION and growing by over 2 million dollars
every minute of every day with no hope of an
end in sight,” Tubbs points out, “This is an inexcusable
lack of responsibility on our elected officials'
part. They are robbing from our children and grand
children to pay for our current excess and waste.
This is unconscionable and must be stopped by replacing
the very people who have failed us and put
our children's future at risk.”
Tubbs basic approach is based on the original
intent of the US Constitution and the Declaration of
Independence. “The more government grows taking
away our rights,” he says, “the more we become
dependent on that government and the less free we
live.”
He supports a strong military, cutting spending,
returning control to individuals and local government,
eliminating cumbersome and counterproductive
regulations – and REPEALING
OBAMACARE, which if left in place will destroy
our health care system, bankrupt our nation, and
result in rationing of health care especially to the
elderly.
Rick and his wife Kristy live in Vacaville and
have three children. He is personable, easy to talk
with, and NOT a glad-handing phony like Garamendi
Solano deserves our own Congressman – finally.
And Rick Tubbs is the candidate for the job.

A newly redrawn and renamed district and a new way of selecting candidates spurred plenty of interest among candidates for the 3rd Congressional District seat. But among the five whose names appear on the ballot, two stand out: Incumbent Rep. John Garamendi and Vacaville challenger Rick Tubbs.
The Reporter's Editorial Board would like to see them emerge victorious on June 5 and compete head-to-head in November...
...Conservative voters have a choice of candidates, but would do well to choose Mr. Tubbs...With more than 22 years experience as a military pilot (active duty and Reserves), Mr. Tubbs would also be an excellent advocate for the district's military bases, including Travis, where he is stationed.
A math major who has balanced military budgets, he wants to put that experience toward the laudable goal of balancing the federal budget. His approach to that task also is refreshing: He advocates paying it off like a mortgage, over several decades...
Mr. Tubbs' main weakness -- although some might call it a strength -- lies in his lack of experience as an elected official at any level. But he's a smart fellow who would catch on quickly. As he observes, his most recent promotion to commander of the 301st Airlift Squadron at Travis has given him insight into what it would be like to be a freshman in Congress: "I have my voice, but I get overruled a lot," he says. "I learn to take small victories and build on them."
Voters would do well to mark their ballots for either John Garamendi or Rick Tubbs.
